Daughtry to Headline Pre-Race Concert at Chevy Rock & Roll 400

Daughtry to Headline Pre-Race Concert at Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Race at Richmond International Raceway

Fifth Year of Chevy Rock-and-Roll-Themed Race to Feature Live Performance by Triple-Platinum Selling Rock Band Daughtry

For the fifth-straight year Chevrolet will bring together the sounds of rock and roll and the intensity of NASCAR racing during the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway with this year's event featuring a pre-race concert by Daughtry. The triple-platinum selling rock band will perform on the frontstretch near the start/finish line of Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 8 at 5:45 p.m. prior to the start of one of the most dramatic and anticipated events of each NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season, the Chevy Rock & Roll 400.

"We're excited to bring back the fan-favorite Chevy Rock & Roll 400 and make this year's rock-and-roll themed race a memorable one with a live performance by Daughtry," said Ed Peper, general manager of Chevrolet. "Music is a part of Chevrolet's DNA which is why we chose to hold the fifth installment of this rock-and-roll themed event. With Chevy being one of America's best-selling automotive brands, we thought it was appropriate to invite a breakout rock group who has had a best-selling album on the record charts."

"The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 is one of the most prestigious races on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule," said Matthew Becherer, Senior Director of Marketing & Sales at Richmond International Raceway. "The Rock & Roll concept, along with the drama of it being the final race before The Chase, will again show why Richmond International Raceway is America's Premier Short Track."

Fans are likely to know Daughtry by their recent hit singles including "It's Not Over" and "Home." After releasing their self-titled debut album in November of 2006, Daughtry hit number one two non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 charts and has already sold more than 3 million copies. The band looks forward to performing at their first NASCAR event in September after spending the summer on tour with Nickelback.

"We're very excited Chevrolet has invited us to perform live at the Chevy Rock and Roll 400," said Chris Daughtry, lead singer of the band. "We're big fans of Chevy's cars and trucks and obviously we love rock and roll so we can't wait for the fifth Chevy Rock & Roll 400. This will be our first-ever performance at a NASCAR event and since some of us grew up in North Carolina in the heart of NASCAR that makes participating in this Chevy race even more special for us."

Individuals with tickets to the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway can get an up-close view of the Daughtry concert by visiting Chevy Fan Fest on the midway at Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 8. By participating in the Chevy Challenge, each individual will receive two free passes to watch the Daughtry performance on the frontstretch of the track.

Race fans who don't have tickets to the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway should act fast, as there are a limited number of tickets still available to see their favorite Chevy drivers "under the lights" on Saturday, September 8.  Tickets can be purchased at www.rir.com or by calling the Richmond International Raceway ticket office at 1-866-455-RACE (7223).

Stay tuned for additional activities involving the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 race weekend at Richmond International Raceway that Chevrolet will announce at a later date.
